SOYAKARYA CRAFT is an ecopreneur focused company from Central Java, Indonesia. As ecopreneurs, we are very concerned about water pollution. Although there are many causes of this pollution, we are especially focused on that caused by liquid tofu waste.

The ever-increasing demand for tofu and associated products in Indonesia has propagated numerous small-scale producers. This trend has increased the volume and intensity of liquid tofu waste entering river systems. In addition, liquid tofu waste spreads a foul odor in the vicinity of the water ways and decreases the level of oxygen which, in turn, negatively impacts the river ecosystems. Moreover, if liquid tofu waste permeates the soil, this waste will affect the quality of the aquifers which are an important source of water for communities.

SOYAKARYA CRAFT contributes to solving this issue by creating innovative and cultural products made from fermented liquid tofu waste fabric. We do so by empowering local craftsmen, tailors, and housewives in a production value chain which creates innovative ideas from a very challenging issue.
